New Intern at IDG

Hello Industrial District Green Friends,

My name is Samantha Christian and I am delighted to introduce myself to you as Industrial District Green’s Social Media Intern! For the next several months I will be posting blogs and assisting with IDG’s social media to share information about drought and stormwater management, current events concerning IDG and the Industrial District of Downtown Los Angeles, and (of course) trees!

A little about myself – After graduating high school in the Detroit metro area, I relocated to Los Angeles to pursue my dream career of becoming a hairstylist. I graduated cosmetology school and attained jobs at high-end salons in the LA area where I worked for two years. I quickly realized that the career path I chose was not as fulfilling as I had anticipated, and decided to enroll at a university to follow another passion of mine – environmental stewardship.

In December 2013 I graduated with highest honors from Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability with a BA in Sustainability and Urban Dynamics. During my time at Arizona State, I interned with the Development and Communication division at Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council in Northern Michigan where I gained experience in educational outreach and event planning.

I enjoy studying the ways humans are molded by, and interact with, the environment, as well as exploring urban planning techniques that create ecologically and socially successful cities. I am excited to apply my experience and passion to support Industrial District Greens mission for a more sustainable urban environment.

I enthusiastically look forward to my time here at Industrial District Green!

Sincerely,

Samantha Christian
